A volunteer is creating a project line according to the duration of their project. On the top of the line, there are writing personal goals on the bottom proffessional goals willing to achive during the whole project. Each goal need to have a time line.

To support the planning and evaluation learning process of the volunteers.

The tool is used to support the learning process of the volunteer and to evaluate its development.

Step by step process:

On a large piece of paper, the volunteer draws a horizontal line along with the page. He/she marks the time on the line (e.g. 2, 6, 12 months). On a sheet of paper above the line, he/she writes personal goals that he/she wants to achieve during the project, professional goals below the time line. Goals are set on the timeline due to their deadline.
The number of goals does not matter, but it is important that they are specific and varied in time.

Materials and resources:

Flipchart paper, markers, color paper

With this method, the volunteer has time to think about what he/she wants to achieve during the project. The goal line allows you to return to the goals at any time during the project. During the middle evaluation, the volunteer returns to the line and wonders which goals they will achieve and which ones will not and why.
At the end of the project, we evaluate what the volunteer has achieved and who helped, if at all, to achieve them.

The method requires the involvement of a volunteer and a minimum of 1 hour to prepare. It is also important for the volunteer to present his/her line to the coordinator and other volunteers, if they are.
When working with volunteers, we encourage them to hang a poster with the project line in a prominent place in their apartment and work with the poster, by hanging new goals and marking those that are already achieved.
