Type of tool:
Activity
Duration:
60-90 min
Topics addressed:
Coaching

Personal development

THOR is a universal reflection tool containing three components for:
1. Personal reflection
2. Reflection in a small group (family, team), peer reflection
3. Reflection in large groups (debriefing) THOR - the house of reflection

Aim:

The aim of using the THOR tool is that user become aware about inner state, personal expectations, to conduct quality self-reflection and reflection of both the individual and the teams by creating a visual mental map.
Also by using the third tool THOR The house of reflection provides you with support in the implementation of quality debriefing.
The THOR tool can be used to reflect on the past or plan the next steps, projects, goals, strategies.

● Optional and voluntary. Once you start, you have no obligation to finish in a period of time, If at the end the process is not over, take some notes as a personal diary for the future continuation.
● It is a pleasant way to think about what is important to you, what you stand for and what you want to plan for the future. It is NOT a “therapeutic” tool.
● It is a very personal and private discovery and naming of what is important to you. Decide for yourself whether you want to share it with other people or not, if it’s self-reflection. The same applies to the team / family members, if they want to share the achieved results and achievements with others.

Methodology:

Design Thinking approach
The THOR tools have been fine-tuned and upgraded through much testing with a variety of individuals and groups, involving educators from both the non formal and formal educational field, family members and many young people.
The different tools have been ideated, produced in draft versions and then progressively been adapted according to the feedback received from the testing.
What you hold now, is the final result.
No doubt also you might have ideas and proposals to tailor these tools even more towards the way you wish to use them. Please do so. Feel free to add new cards and/or remove cards. Do not hesitate to create your very own way, besides the proposed use of the different THOR tools. Life is not static and neither is THOR.

The THOR set was created through a survey conducted on a sample of more than 100 respondents (teachers, NFL coaches, youth workers, parents). Supported by an additional research for each of the three tools containing the THOR set.
Hexagon shaped cards

The particular shape of the cards allows you to build connections around each card, or between different cards. The six different sides give you the opportunity to build pictograms according to the individual or collective connections you create between the different cards.

A few principles

We believe the following principles are important to keep in mind:

● Optional and voluntary. Once you start, you have no obligation to finish in a period of time, If at the end the process is not over, take some notes as a personal diary for the future continuation.
● It is a pleasant way to think about what is important to you, what you stand for and what you want to plan for the future. It is NOT a “therapeutic” tool.
● It is a very personal and private discovery and naming of what is important to you. Decide for yourself whether you want to share it with other people or not, if it’s self-reflection. The same applies to the team / family members, if they want to share the achieved results and achievements with others.

When to use it
● Wherever and whenever suits you best.
● When you wish to take some ‘time for yourself’ and can be used at almost any location and moment. Whilst a train travel, before going for a good night sleep, on the sofa even when the TV might be offering relatively interesting alternatives.
● Take the time you wish for this, and explore at your desire as many dimensions THOR has to offer.
● Some enjoy using THOR on a very regular basis, others use it less frequently.

Step by step process:

For the needs of the introductory part and the presentation of the tool, we use 3 video tourioles that we made during the project (approx. 15 min) with exlenation of sets elements.
For the exercise and use of tools segment (45 min), we have our own tool sets (engl, por, and hr) as well as an app version (http://app.theheartofreflection.com) that will enable a larger number of participants in the workshop. We will together explore all 4 categories if hexagon cards (feelings, goals, competences, learning outcomes).
The debriefing process is realized with the third tool of the THOR The house of reflection set using the 4f principle, where in the floor plan of the house participants in the kitchen discover emotions, in the living room facts, in the attic achievements and hidden treasures, and on the balcony discover future ways to use tools. All materials are available at http://theheartofreflection.com as open sourcing.

Materials and resources:

We will bring all the materials (sets) with us, so we need a projector, laptop, stable wi fi, and a hall of about 50 m2 (due to THOR maps) to set up for practice and use in the process of self-reflection, peer reflection, team more reflective.

Outcomes:

It is wonderful that one of the categories is Learning outcomes, so the participants will only be able to become aware of what knowledge they have become aware of. From previous experience:
- strengthening the mental state - emotional awareness
- clearer visualization of realized results
- poptopra for further processes
- strengthening mutual trust
- connecting and strengthening team spirit ..

Evaluation:

The tool was evaluated by over 200 users and was rated as very useful both on a personal and group level. Easy to use, accessible to children, young people and people working with young people. Due to the development process, the tool is open to use to best suit the user, and everyone can design and use it according to their needs. It is a pleasant way to think about what is important to you, what you stand for and what you want to plan for the future. It is NOT a “therapeutic” tool.

Notes for further use:

The workshop is easy to adapt to both smaller and larger groups (from 1 to 40 participants)
