Start discussion about different groups in society, exploring the feeling of rejection or exclusion through a specific group division dynamic using different colours.

Participants exploring the feeling of being part of a majority or a minority.

Step by step process:

Participants still don’t know the color of their labels;
Tell the participants to get into a group with others who have the same;
No one may talk; they may only use non verbal communication;
(6 blue, 6 yellow, 6 white, 3 red, 2 black, 1 green)AdviceBe aware of who gets the green spot;
You can take the opportunity to manipulate the composition of the final groups, but do not make it obvious. Let the players believe that the spots were distributed at random;

How did you feel at the moment when you first met someone with the same color spot as yourself?
How did the person with the odd spot feel?
Did you try to help each other get into groups?
In our society, we are the odd ones out?

Materials and resources:

Coloured labels described in the activity “Labels”.

Notes for further use:

This activity can also be used as an icebreaker and to get people into groups for another activity.
