Young People in Contemporary Society
The Lifelong Learning Program Youth in Contemporary Society is a pilot program for youth studies.
Ensure the education of youth workers and increase the quality of youth work.
Lifelong Learning Program Youth in Contemporary Society is conceived as a three-dimensional program covering three most important areas - (i) youth research, (ii) youth work and (iii) youth participation in community development (civic education and education). Each of the three modules consists of a compulsory subject (four in total) and several optional as well as mandatory practicals (two) aimed at applying theoretical knowledge in practice. The total program is 30 ECTS credits. The estimated duration of the program is 15 weeks with weekend lectures.
The first you step is to make a needs assessment. After that, the writing of the performance program , curriculum and detailed course syllabus follows. Such a plan is submitted to the college council of the institution where it is envisaged to maintain the program, which the program proposes to the committee responsible for lifelong learning in that institution. After a positive response from the board, the program is returned to the college council and a license is issued for lifelong learning. The process may vary, depending on the chosen institutional arrangement.
The materials that are needed are space for lectures.
After completing all of the program obligations, it is expected that studenta will develop the following specific competences, namely to be able to: know, analyze and evaluate literature dealing with youth, to identify and recognize relevant and recent knowledge of youths by referring to the results of contemporary youth research, demonstrate the application of knowledge about the young people on concrete examples of practice taking into account all the specific needs of the target group, identify and analyze forms of work with young people, differentiate work with young people from similar concepts, evaluate and apply different methodologies of youth work, in designing, preparing and developing programs and projects tailored to the specific problems and challenges of young people in local communities, to develop and introduce new programs of educational work with young people who can be run in educational institutions / organizations, to describe the key challenges in working with young people and predl to harness the simpler solutions in the national and local context, to be able to develop the outcomes of the educational process with young people in relation to the target group and circumstances, to show the development of youth work in Croatia, to explain basic theoretical knowledge of adopting the civil competences of young people, models of civic education and education in Croatia, monitor and analyze the implementation of curricula of civic education and education, apply didactic-methodological procedures for the adoption of civic competences, analyze and evaluate recent trends in sociology and youth politology, identify key schools of thought in the field of youth research, understand the importance interdisciplinary approach to youth research, recognize the importance of triangulation in youth research, evaluate and critically refer to their own experience of working with youth, to plan the improvement of educational work with young people on the basis of rednovanja
educational and other social interventions, respect ethical values in youth work.
Evaluation of the program showd that 15 week period wasn't sufficient time to implement this conceived program, and it was recommended to extend that period.
