HOW TO FIGHT RACISM WITH SENSE OF HUMOUR

By introducing several humorist situations awareness can be raised about how the stereotypes and the previous education deeply influence our current perception of reality.

Aim: 

To fight racism by means of sense of humor.

Methodology: 

Journalism.
Research individual/group work.
Direct contact with local community.
Reflection groups.
Plenary for discussion.

Step by step process: 

People have to read the text about what is happening, to think about the possible end, to work in groups and role play the end.
Later on, each group discusses about the final and the feelings.
Sense of humor is the base of this exercise, so use it as much as possible during the session.

Materials and resources: 

Projector + laptop or PC + speakers
Copies of the doc “Fernand Raynaud definition”
Videos from advertising in TV and Internet.
Videos by SOS RACISME
Pictures taken from several mass media.

Outcomes: 

To shock people what the results of their findings in comparison what the things they believed previously.
To realize the importance of the local community and the physical context in the development of activities with inter - religious, intercultural and social - economic diversity.

Notes for further use: 

Sense of humor is the base of this exercise, so try to be so humorist (positively, constructively) as possible without damaging participants' sensibility.
